Busy Bees

We are trying to play catch up on life with all the ups and downs this spring and summer has brought our way and it is taking a lot of time! But we are finding time to enjoy what is left of the summer.

Abby's birthday has come and gone and she is now eight! Since the house is upside down and sideways right now, mommy simplified and we had a pizza party at the local pizza parlor! Marc enjoyed the cheese sticks but the cupcakes were his favorite hands down!

Does she have her license????

He got to show off his walking skills to all Abby's friends and they were very impressed with him. It actually proved to be the day he took off walking! His five to six steps turned into 20 and by Sunday he was officially up and running! We are all very impressed!

He occasionally stops and does what we call "Marc's yoga". He simply stops, flips his head down to the floor and looks through his legs. We are not sure if he is trying to stay limber or if he's trying to see how far he's come! Dusty sometimes sneaks in and gives him a little kiss while he's down here.
It is a tradition to try and rest on Sundays after church... so we have what we call "family naps" where everyone takes a nap after lunch... this is one of mommy's favorite traditions! A couple Sunday's ago, the painters were upstairs painting and so we all had to rest downstairs. Abby and I shared a sofa, daddy got a sofa, and Dusty and Marc shared a palette in the office. They both enjoyed their snuggle and private little get away.
We are going to the lake house next week for a few days of rest and renewal. Hopefully the house will be back in order within the next two weeks! I'll update again when we get back with some lake pictures. Love and hugs...

Living Life

Sorry to have such a gap in updates. My computer took a lightening hit last week and then my grandfather also passed away and we traveled to North Carolina for the funeral... I am behind.

We are trying to get back into the routine and balance working on the house with enjoying summer. The most exciting thing going on right now is that Marc is learning to walk. We got him some walking shoes a week ago and they immediately gave him the confidence he needed. That night he was taking three steps... within two days he was up to five... now he can go as many as eight before sitting down!

Before we left for NC last week, our dear friends, Joel and Ryan, had a party for Marc and our family. It was very nice and Marc got to meet lots of new friends. He showed off his walking skills as well as his favorite activity...

EATTING! His newest nickname is "BP" for "Bottomless Pit!" He eats more than Abby!

Tomorrow, we are meeting friends at the jumping place and then maybe meeting other friends at the pool in the afternoon. Tuesday will be a busy day for sure!

We are home.

Whew. We are home. It was a great trip. But it's nice to be home. I love our home. I love my family.

Marc did amazing on his first little trip and took his first two plane rides without even batting an eye. And he bats his eyes lately!

Everyone ate him up. It was so funny. It was so natural... like he's been part of the family forever. God is so crazy like that.

Of course my camera battery died the second day we were there. I put it on the charger and then didn't pick it up again until the day we left. So my pictures are sparse.

Marc met his cousins and they had fun... looking at each other. Marc is not really at the point of playing "with"... he does play "by" and watch. Abby had fun pulling them around in the wagon... we must get another one of those!

The weather was wonderful. Not the norm for VA at the end of June so it was a great treat and blessing. Now we are trying to get back into the routine of things. After the break, I think I can tackle some more boxes. Hopefully Grammy and Poppy will be here some time this month. And Grandaddy Charles should come soon too!
